Intention-setting for creativity

Connecting to the Summer Solstice

Here in the northern hemisphere we are preparing to transition into a new season.

Summer arrives on Friday, June 21 at 11:54 am.

This is the moment when the Sun leaves the sign of Gemini and enters Cancer, an energy that helps us to shift our focus towards personal fulfillment, self-reflection, and intuitive guidance.

The change in seasons is a powerful time to connect with your intentions for the summer ahead.

The longest day of light gives us ample time to bask in the Sun’s rays and remember what the Sun represents:

It is our ambition, ego, and creative drive. It is the ways in which we shine in this world.

On the Summer Solstice, take some time to yourself. You might want to journal or meditate upon the following questions:

“How do I want to shine this summer?”

“What kind of time or space will I make for my creative projects?”

“What is my heart telling me to focus my creativity on?”

“What will it do for me to let my imagination become a priority right now?”

“What does my creativity fulfill for me?”

“What kind of role does my creativity have on my identity?”

Start each statement with “I will,” “I intend,” or “I am…” to give them power and confidence.

For example:

“I will create every week.”

“I am following my heart.”

“I will honour my creativity by doing the following…”

“I intend to take my imagination to new heights.”

What intentions will you set for your creativity this summer? Write me back and let me know.

And if you want to connect with the energy of the Summer Solstice to generate some new writing, please join me in Toronto for a special workshop on Monday, June 24:

Writing Through Tarot is an evening of creative writing through the tarot. We’ll explore some tarot imagery that directly connects to the Summer Solstice to bring our creativity into alignment with the energies of the season.

Until next time,
